چکیده

AimStudy was undertaken to investigate the effect of altered behavioral condition like depression on various oxidative stress markers and biochemical parameters in rats. MethodsRats were subjected for short (21 days) and long term (84 days) social isolation; the rats displayed an increase in depression on force swim test relative to control. Various markers of oxidative stress like lipid per oxidation (LPO), reduced glutathione (GSH), Supers oxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and biochemical parameters like SGOT, SGPT, and blood glucose were determined. ResultsThere was significant increase in the level of LPO and decrease in the levels of GSH, SOD and CAT after long term isolation. Biochemical parameters were significantly altered after social isolation. ConclusionIncreased oxidative stress in depression which may leads to alteration of biochemical parameters. Keywords—Depression, Glucose, LPO, Oxidative stress.

Effect of eugenol on lithium-pilocarpine model of epilepsy: behavioral, histological, and molecular changes

Objective(s): Epilepsy establishment gives rise to biochemical and morphological changes in the hippocampus. Oxidative stress, morphological changes, and mossy fiber sprouting (MFS) in the hippocampus underpin the epilepsy establishment. Eugenol is the main component of the essential oil extracted from cloves with the potential to modulate neuronal excitability. Therefore, we investigated the e...

Effect of Melatonin Premedication on Some Physiological Parameters and Reduction of Oxidative Stress in Tagetes etecta Seedlings under Salt Stress

Salinity is one of the most important environmental stresses which affect the growth of plants. Most of the plants are sensitive to salt stress at the seedling stage, so the growth of them in salt-water accompanies with problems. Various agronomic and physiological practices (treatments) are applied to minimize the adverse effects of salinity on plant growth and using of plant growth regulator ...

Changes in Physiological and Biochemical Parameters of Gourd (Cucurbita pepo L.) Two Varieties under Drought and UV-B Radiation. Nobar Hajihosseinlo*, Siavash Hosseini Sarghein and Rashid Jamei

It emerged recently that there is an inter-relationship between drought and Ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation in plant responses, in that both stresses provoke an oxidative burst. The objective of the present investigation was to study the effect of drought stress, UV-B radiation and the combined effects of UV-B and drought stresses on two cultivars of gourd seedling. The gourd plants were grown w...

Oxidative markers in five Iranian alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) cultivars under salinity stress . Nader Chaparzadeh1* and Faramarz Mehrnejad2

Five alfalfa (Medicago sativa L) cultivars from different areas of Iran were evaluated for oxidative markers under salinity conditions. Plants were grown in hydroponic condition by Hoagland nutrient solution containing different amounts of NaCl (control, 50 and 100 mM). Relative growth rate, membrane stability, lipid peroxidation, proline, hydrogen peroxide and relative water contents were dete...
